Imagine walking into a party and finding two other guests dressed just like you. While most of us may not accept, it may have happened to us thanks to retail shopping and sales. The solution I found to this is to curate your own fabric and design your own outfit the old fashion way. Now that may not be as easy as it sounds. Like for me I am not well equipped with the knowledge of quality of fabrics, their types and the right cost. Infact, if you ask me, I may not be able to point you to a physical store that I can vouch for. But what I can do is share my latest find Fabcurate store, the perfect online store to buy premium dress material.
I was looking for quality dress material to design some flowy dresses that would stand out during my travels and I landed on Fabcurate website. The first thing that impressed me about this online store was their wide range of fabrics, all categorized beautifully based on their prints, fabric type and even occasions. They have a plethora of fabrics including plain, printed and peculiar crafts such as Indigo, Kalamkari, Ikat, Ajrakh, Tie and dye and many more. I browsed for a while before I settled on four fabrics from their collection.
The first one, Orange And Beige Bandhani Pattern Screen Print is in Kota Doria fabric that originated in Mysore, around the 17th-18th century. To make khat-like check patterns the Doria or threads are perfectly interweaved. Kota Doria is considered featherweight and offers a smooth texture, elegant grace, and jaunty vibe. The fabric estimator on their website was really helpful and helped me calculate the length of the fabric that I needed for my design.
The second one, Black And Multi-Color Peacock Feather Pattern Digital Print Japan Satin Fabric is my favourite. The design is inspired by many birds such as peacock, flamingo, pigeons and more, decorated with multi-colored feathers design and the fabric is satin smooth. I have never worn Japan satin and I can’t wait to create a gown out of this fabric.
The third one is more of a traditional print called Yellow And Salmon Orange Madhubani Pattern Digital Print Art Tussar Silk Fabric and represents the Indian craft of Madhubani. The Madhubani painting is said to be one of the most intricate and beautiful art of India. The fabric has characteristics like geometrical designs with Indian ladies which has an appropriate Indian aura.
The fourth one, Tuscany Yellow And Red Floral Pattern Digital Print Poly Micro Crepe Fabric has a smooth finish, alluring nature, and skin-friendly surface. Crepe is derived from the French word which means small & thin. It is a breathable fabric. Polyester is strong, they don’t tear or stretch, making crepe much more stable. This fabric can be used in scarves, shawls, wraps, dresses, eveningwear, hats, mourning wear, high fashion, curtains.
