We were planning a short break from our city and chose Pune for our staycation. Why Pune? Because no matter how many times I return to Pune it never fails to surprise me. There is always something new to explore in this vibrant and bubbly city. This was my first trip to Pune with my son though and we wanted to introduce the cultural and heritage side of the city to him. But first, we needed to pick a smart and hasslefree hotel located conveniently so that we could navigate through the city traffic efficiently to make the most of our trip. After going through a lot of other options, we chose Holiday Inn Express Pune Hinjewadi and weren’t disappointed at all.

The hotel has everything that you would need for a short stay and provides express service so that your trip doesn’t get interrupted. The rooms are compact with a “no-frills” sense but have everything to exude a “just right” vibe. The highlight of our stay in Holiday Inn Express Pune Hinjewadi was definitely the service and the hospitality. The hotel management and staff both are extremely warm and are always open to any requests. Our check-in was express and accompanied by warm and heartfelt pleasantries, which is always a great way to start one’s trip. The lobby gives a few glimpses of the heritage gems of the city and extends into the Express Cafe.

The Rooms

The rooms are compact with tasteful decor that not only looks sleek and stylish but efficient too. The interior decor of the hotel is modern and contemporary and everything looks brand new. The rooms are very well maintained and are impeccably clean with all the facilities that you would need for a short stay. I really liked that there was a basic gym and a self-service laundry available to guests 24×7. The hotel promises to provide a comfortable home away from home and delivers on the same.

Express Cafe

The Express Cafe has a wide variety of multi-cuisine dishes in its menu that includes Indian specialties from the city that come in colorful tiffin boxes and some popular continental delicacies. The dessert section is also quite interesting and has a good collection of Indian and continental sweets.

Even though we didn’t have much time to explore the foodie scene of Pune, we didn’t miss tasting the local Puneri food. From vada pav to pav bhaji, bun maska to missal pav, and poha to sabudana khichdi, the breakfast buffet at Holiday Inn Express Pune Hinjewadi serves everything so that you get a chance to experience the local cuisine even if you do not have time to step out.

The breakfast buffet also had South Indian dishes like idli, vadas with sambar and chutney and stuffed parathas from the North. For continental foodies, they had toast, omelette, scrambled egg, sausages, sandwiches, cakes and croissants served with tea and coffee. A special section is dedicated to healthy eaters with a range of cereals, fresh fruits and juices.

Our stay

Overall, we had a really comfortable stay at Holiday Inn Express Pune Hinjewadi. We also took a day tour courtesy the hotel and found our driver very friendly. We had prepared a day itinerary beforehand and thanks to our driver who knew a few shortcuts, we were able to cover all the spots even with bad traffic. Overall we had an amazing trip and would highly recommend Holiday Inn Express Pune Hinjewadi if you are planning a business trip or a short staycation in the city of Pune.
