We were having a busy few weeks and we wanted to slow down a bit without actually stepping out of Bangalore. So we planned a relaxing luxurious staycation at one of our favorite hotels, Grand Mercure Bangalore. I had been to their restaurant a few times before however never really had a chance to stay with them. But the vibes and good food always tempted me to plan a staycation there. And this time, we thought what better way to start the year than experiencing their lovely hospitality.
Grand Mercure Bangalore is a luxurious upscale five-star hotel tucked in the green, calm quiet area of Koramangala. It has a great ambiance. The hotel interiors are chic and the hotel is a great stay for business as well as leisure travelers. The hotel exteriors are soothing and very green and the moment you step in, you are enveloped with its charm thanks to the serene location amidst the residential part of Koramangala.
Check-in and Welcome
Our check-in was quick and the staff was very polite. Due to the pandemic, they have certain norms that they follow and explain during the check-in. We sat in the comfortable lobby as our bags were sanitized and scanned. We were asked to submit our vaccination certificates and after a quick temperature check, the further check-in processes were completed. We were welcomed with a delicious welcome drink and after a few minutes were handed over our key card for our one-bedroom suite.
The Suite
The hotel has well-spaced suites that come with a functional kitchenette including microwave, toaster, induction stove and basic utensils for cooking. Our one-bedroom suite was spacious and had a surprise of some tasty welcome treats and snacks. The suite had a separate living room and a beautiful balcony overlooking a calm green patch.
The bedroom is well lit by natural light and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom is well sized and functional. The balconies have a nice view overlooking the green zone. They have a compact water purifier in every suite that makes the hotel more eco-friendly. In fact the suite has everything for not just a short stay but a longer period as well.
Amenities
The hotel also has a huge swimming pool and a kid’s pool that is well maintained. The gym and spa are well equipped. We spent a lot of time in the swimming pool which was quite fun. Swimming pools and kids are always a great hit together.
They also have another restaurant called By The Blue which is poolside however it is not open currently but will be opening soon. The view of the restaurant deck is amazing and the night view is even better when the pool is lit up beautifully.
12th Main Restaurant
We dined at the 12th Main the in-house restaurant of Grand Mercure Bangalore which is aptly named after the location of the hotel. The restaurant is unique and has a casual setting as well as an outdoor alfresco setting for relaxed outings with friends and family. They offer the best of global gourmet cuisines and the food is lip-smackingly delicious. The highlight of our stay was the amazing dishes that the Chef served us for a 7-course lunch that we had in their outdoor alfresco.
We had a wonderful afternoon spent leisurely tasting different gourmet dishes from around the world. Highly recommend their buffalo chicken wings, garlic prawns, roast chicken and desserts.
The breakfast buffet is quite wide and has multiple dishes from north Indian, south Indian and continental cuisine. The Grand Breakfast at Grand Mercure Bangalore is a specially crafted breakfast menu with 14 unique, nutritious and flavorsome dishes that make a breakfast of the champions.
Our Verdict
We had a great time at Grand Mercure Bangalore which replenished and recharged us. The suites are spacious and the functional kitchen makes them quite ideal for long-term stays, business travel and family trips. Their overall service is amazing, the food delicious and they have 24×7 room service with an elaborate menu. And above all, they follow all covid safety protocols stringently putting guests’ minds at ease and making them feel welcome in a space that feels home away from home.
We were hosted by Grand Mercure Bangalore however all views and opinions expressed are mine.
