The best way to prepare yourself and your kid for a journey is to pack the right things. Traveling with young children comes with it’s set of challenges and most of the problems can be solved if you have things handy just like at home. The key is to identify things that you need to carry and things that can be arranged at the homestay or hotel.
We took a break from traveling just before the baby came. After the baby, we got busy trying to adapt to all the changes. But at the back of my mind, I wanted to give it a shot. I knew I probably will never find a break as long as my maternity leave. So, with a two-month-old in tow, we dared to do a five-day road trip and survived it. After that, there was no stopping and we started traveling as much as before.
We have been frequent travelers for many years now, but traveling with an infant bamboozled us the first time. And with a whole lot of practice, we have arrived at our perfect checklist for packing. So don’t forget to include our tried and tested list when you are packing for a trip with your little one.
- Diapers – Sometimes you may not find the regular brand that you use, in a different country. If you know so, do make sure you carry enough diapers to last the trip.
- Diaper rash cream
- Wet wipes
- Plastic bags for diaper changes & dirty clothes
- Nursing cover or shawl to cover while feeding in public just in case
- Bibs and Burp cloth
- Formula milk powder and Baby food
- Baby Snacks
- Baby Bottles and sippy cups
- Sterilizer for keeping bottles clean
- Usual medicines chest (approved by the doctor)
- Blankets and towels
- Clothes according to the weather in the traveling destination.
- Sunhat if required, an umbrella for monsoons, boots for cold weather
- Baby shampoo, soap, cream and other toiletries
- Kid friendly Sunscreen
- Mosquito repellent for kids
- Toys, bath toys, books, activity box etc to keep the baby occupied
- Car seat

What are some other travel essentials that you pack while traveling with kids? Tell us more….
Travel with kids are very careful traveling. Kids are don’t know the how to travel but you share the information is really very helpful for traveling with kids. Good Work!
your checklist is somehow similar to what i usually bring for my kid. glad we have common things in mind
Having all the things you need for the baby when traveling is essential. Great list!
Traveling with a baby, especially for the first time is always a roller coaster. I never travel without getting a checklist together first. This is a great start for a first time mom. The most useful thing for me while traveling has definitely been a carrier.
I would add a place for baby to sleep/nap! When we go to bed we co-sleep, but prior to that we have a travel bassinet we use to keep baby safe! Also a portable sound machine has facilitated many an on-the-go naptime!
Excellent checklist! I will definitely be using this when we travel with my little one. Packing for her seems so stressful lol
I agree to all of these! I always bring tons and tons of toys and snacks.
This is a really good list! I’m at the point where I keep a re-occurring list on my phone of all baby things I need to go for even just one night. It’s amazing the older they get, the fewer things you need 🙂
When you have a bay and are going any where you need be highly organized. Listings as th one you provided allows for this kind of seamless organization.
Absolutely Ingrid. Trying to be organised makes it possible at home and work as always.
